E-Signature

Sign contracts electronically — fully legal, tracked, and secure. Both parties can sign from any device.

Legal validity

Electronic signatures through SignetX are legally binding under the ESIGN Act (US) and eIDAS (EU). Each signature is timestamped, IP-address tracked, and audit-logged.

How signing works

  1. 1

    Sender signs first

After creating or reviewing a contract, click "Sign". You'll see a signature pad where you can:

    • Draw your signature with mouse or touch
    • Type your name in a cursive font

Click "Confirm Signature" to apply it to the contract.

  2. 2

Contract is sent to the other party

After you sign, the contract is emailed to the recipient (if you haven't already sent it). They receive a secure link to review and sign.

The contract status changes to "Awaiting Recipient".

  3. 3

    Recipient reviews and signs

The recipient clicks the link in their email. They can:

    • Read the full contract
    • Download a PDF preview
    • Sign with draw or type
    • Decline to sign (with optional reason)

No SignetX account is required for the recipient to sign — they just click the link.

  4. 4

    Contract is completed

Once both parties have signed, the contract status changes to "Completed". Both parties receive a confirmation email with a copy of the signed contract.

You can download the signed PDF from your Contracts list at any time.

Self-Signing

Self-signing (Business Max plan)

If you represent both parties (e.g., an internal agreement within your company), you can sign on behalf of both sides. This skips the email and recipient signing step — the contract goes straight to Completed after you sign.

Signature audit trail

Every signature includes a full audit trail:

  • • Signer name and email
  • • Date and time of signature (with timezone)
  • • IP address of the signer
  • • User agent (browser and device)
  • • Document hash (proves the document wasn't altered after signing)

Plan availability

E-Signature (both parties) is available on Pro and higher plans. Self-signing is available on Business Max only. Free plan users cannot use e-signature.
